From The East

December 20, 2011

Brethren,

Thank you for electing me to serve Seneca 55 again as Master. I look forward to continue serving the Lodge.  Last year as Master I had two main goals, first to increase lodge attendance and build more camaraderie among the brothers.  I believe I was successful in this, we regularly have 15-20 brothers attending meetings. Some of our degrees have had as many as 40 brothers; it is great to see the lodge full.  My second goal was to stop Seneca from losing money every year, I was not completely successful at this, we did have a smaller loss then the previous year, but not enough.

This year I will continue to try to better Seneca’s financial situation.  We have not raised dues, but I do ask every brother to make an added donation if financially able.  This will help greatly in reducing our loss.  I will be looking at several fund raising Ideas, which will need volunteers. If you have any ideas for fundraising please contact me.

Last year on our first Tuesday meetings we had business meetings, and our 3rd Tuesday meetings we held degrees.  This seemed to work very well, so I will be continuing with that.

Seneca will also hold a Pin night to honor 50 year members.  As tradition has been all attending Brothers will receive a pin, for the years of membership they have.  The date has not yet been scheduled, but I will do my best to give every brother enough time to add Pin Night to their schedules.

I encourage brothers who have not been to a meeting in a long time to come down, meet some of our new brothers.  I have talked with several brothers who had not been to lodge for years and where very happy with the way they were greeted and made welcome.  Our older brothers know history of Seneca which the newer brothers would love to hear.

Fraternally,

Alan Zordan
